Design Process
The set which was designed by Colin McGurk was not for The Flying Dutchman originally. In order to let it fit to this opera, I kept the basic structure of the set but changed the texture of the deck and added few props. Having the adjusted set as a starting point, I focused on the idea of "weathering lighting" such as the storm, rainbow after rain and the stars at the silent night to show the power of the nature and how it related to the different moments of the story. The key light was clear and strong for every scene. Changing the color and the brightness of the cloud back drop was another major idea to be played through the story......
